Overview

Assisted the Newburg Middle School team with the building, design, and programming of their robot in the FIRST LEGO League Robotics Competition. The team placed 1st place in the State.

Started, organized, and led a drive at General Electric Appliances to provide non-perishable goods to the Society of St. Vincent de Paul, an organization that provides assistance to those who suffer the effects of hunger, homelessness, and/or chemical dependency.

Designed flyer and Web site to promote container gardening class.  Tools included Scribus, The GIMP, XHTML, and CSS.

2006

Designed template for each of the local 12 council districts using The GIMP.  Coded the design into XHTML and CSS for the 12 council districts (WIP) and wrote a program to create the Web sites and upload the files via FTP.  Tools included Perl, Net-FTP, File-Copy, and XML-Simple.

Designed flyer using Scribus and The GIMP on Linux to promote container gardening class.

Re-designed flyer for the "House Doctor" and produced 2 slightly different versions: flyer and flyer 2 using Scribus and The GIMP on Linux.

Developed 4 Web sites using Perl/CGI, (X)HTML, CSS levels 1/2, The GIMP, MySQL and/or XML.  Initial development on Linux Mandrake 10.1 with Apache Web Server.

Created newsletter using MS Publisher.

Created Web site to teach youth participants of New Zion Community Development Foundation, Inc. HTML, which they used to create Web sites for their community business ventures.  Tool included MS Notepad.

Designed MS PowerPoint presentation to be used in conjunction with workshops that I desired to organize and lead on "Life Skills."

Developed Web site and designed brochure (and logo) to promote the chapter.  Tools included HTML; MS Notepad, Publisher, Powerpoint, and FrontPage.

Designed 3 Web photo galleries using Netscape Composer and Adobe Photoshop.

Helped to organize meetings and fundraising opportunities.  Recruited students, designed flyers, authored word processing template for general business letter, and promoted the chapter.

Team Projects


Researched the production of PWBs and cleaning technologies used for surface finishing.  Simulated case study (using Arena) to determine which technology was the best based on overall cost (labor; overtime; electricity/gas; water; materials and parts; transportation; fines due to exceeding pollution limits for city, state, and federal government; etc.), environmental hazard and ecological risk assessment, time needed to complete whole process, etc.


General Electric Appliances; Louisville, KY

Redesigned and improved system performance as a key team member in a DMADV Six Sigma project.  Developed Web site to give team members resources on Six Sigma, background information on project, and data collection.  We met and exceeded the target goal through new design with 95% confidence, developed presentation and presented results, and submitted patent for new design.
